Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey, who was tried in 1986 for allegedly sexually harassing actor Anthony Rapp, who was just 14 years old, appeared in court yesterday.
The world of art and tabloids is watching the case of Kevin Spacey, who was tried for allegedly harassing a young actor in 1986… During the lawsuit that started after the allegations of actor Anthony Rapp, Spacey, 63, appeared in court last night.
Spacey, who sat on the witness stand to defend himself, made statements. Spacey allegedly harassed Rapp at a party held at his Manhattan apartment in 1986. After Spacey’s statements, which denied the allegations against him, the jury will decide whether the case will continue.
Spacey scored a minor victory in the courtroom yesterday. Judge Lewis Kaplan dismissed a defense claim against Rapp’s allegations of deliberately inflicting emotional disturbance. While Rapp’s lawyers tried to persuade Kaplan during the hearing, the judge did not change his decision.
“MY FATHER WAS NEO-NAZI”
Spacey, who appeared before the judge, said that he lived his private life away from the public and said that he grew up in this way.
Spacey also stated that while his father was racist and neo-Nazi, he did not reveal his sexual orientation in public for this reason. He also stated that his father was against homosexuals. “I want my fans to remember me through the characters I play, so I kept my private life private,” Spacey said.
Her apology also came to the fore after the allegations that she had abused Rapp in 2017 emerged. “My PR team at the time said it would be good to apologize,” Spacey said. But I’ve learned that you should never apologize for something you didn’t do. “I regret those statements,” he said.
Rapp, who filed a lawsuit in November 2020, sought $40 million in damages from Spacey. Spacey, who won the Oscar for the best actor award for his role in American Beauty and won the best supporting actor award for his role in The Usual Suspects, had a hard time after the allegations made about him. Spacey, who was fired from Netflix’s popular series House of Cards, was also suspended from the movie All the Money in the World.
Spacey will also appear in court next year in London on charges of sexual harassment and assault between 2005 and 2013.
